Health & Safety at Work (Level 3)

The purpose of this Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF) is to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge and understanding within the work environment to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of others that might be affected by their work.

This is a three-day classroom based course, with a minimum total of 18 hours learning. Dependant on the learner’s experience, there may well be some pre-course or post course reading.

Syllabus: A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Employer’s and Employee’s Responsibilities
  • Ergonomics and Human Factors
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Hazards and Risks
  • Accidents
  • Environmental Factors
  • Human Factors
  • Electricity
  • Fire
  • Manual Handling
  • Hazardous Substances
  • First Aid
  • Accident and Incident Reporting
  • RIDDOR

Assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating in a multiple choice question paper.

This is a lifetime qualification, although refresher training is always recommended.

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
