Paediatric First Aid (1 Day)
The paediatric first aid courses have been designed to teach those people that work with or around children how to deal with basic life support procedures and recognise well known childhood illnesses and conditions.
The course is a basic requirement for those that work within a professional child care setting such as schools and nurseries and partly fulfils the requirements of OFSTED and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The course will give learners a much greater sense of confidence when working around children and if a child in their care develops an illness, injures themselves or has a life threatening emergency they will know how to react in the most appropriate manner.
The course runs over 1 day with around 6 hours of theoretical and practical work.
Elements covered on this course include:
- Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- Chest injuries
- Assessment of the situation
- Heart attacks
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Fractures and spinal injuries
- Head injuries
- Control of bleeding
- Eye injuries
The course is continually assessed and tested throughout by the instructor and on successful completion a certificate will be issued that is valid for 3 years.
